Tokens in the Making

My table this morning: nearly a hundred tokens in progress. Painted slowly, intentionally, with layer upon layer of care. Each one destined not to be kept, but to be given away.

Art table with handmade kindness tokens in progress, ready for the Ripple Station™ in Los Altos.

Lots of different mixed media experiments in the making

Many will make their way to the Ripple Station™ outside my house. Neighbors stop by, pick up a token, and pass it along to someone who might otherwise go unnoticed—a server, a mail carrier, a grocery clerk.

These are not souvenirs or art objects. They are vessels of connection, reminders of presence, tangible ways of saying: I see you. You matter.

This is the practice I return to again and again—and maybe what we all need more of: small gestures that ripple farther than we imagine.
