Begin with Circles
Let’s discover how a line can transform when it meets itself—creating a circle.
One continuous line, endless possibilities.
Circles can be hypnotic. There’s something mesmerizing about their endless motion, their perfect continuity. Today, our charge is to lose ourselves in them.
Start with one circle.
Then let it multiply.
What kind of circles?
Big circles that sweep across your page
Tiny circles that cluster together
Wobbly circles that refuse to be perfect
Concentric circles that ripple outward
Spirals that dance their way into circles
Circles that overlap and create new shapes
Circles made from tiny dots or dabs
Circles within circles within circles
Perfection is never the aim and specificity isn’t a goal. Just 300 moments of presence.
Some examples of circles made with different mediums. Remember to play, experiment and have fun with this.
Look around you — what could become your circle-making tools?
A cup’s rim, a bottle cap, an empty tape roll, the end of a cork, a sponge for dabbing, or even a piece of string anchored at one point.
Or use your hand to draw them freely.
As usual, there’s no single way to approach making.
Let your hand move. Let your mind rest. Notice how your arm sweeps to make big circles, how your wrist turns for the small ones.
Feel the rhythm of repeated motion. Let yourself get lost in the mesmerizing flow of creating circles.

Maybe it’ll spark something new for you, but remember — the uniqueness of your circles is part of the beauty and purpose of this exercise.
Each mark you make reflects a moment that belongs only to you.
After you’re done, if you feel like it:
Share a single word that captures how it felt to go in circles (intentionally this time!)
Let your circles meet the world — share a photo if you’d like (you can leave a comment or simply email me)
Or simply sit in the completeness of having shown up for yourself
No rules. No right or wrong.
